  You know what roze? I just can't see you as the old woman I met. I reckon you will have people you love around you. This old dear was so alone. I think she had no one in her life anymore. We talked for a while until she got embarassed that she might be boring me and scuttled off.
  What really got me was how people close to her when her shopping burst couldn't make the effort to stop and help. I worry we are really lousy animals. I was so pleased to hear about the dolphin in NZ which guided the beached whales out to the safety of the sea. I think I have more faith in dolphins than sydney-siders.

  Yes we do live in an era of incredible individualism and materialism where older people just get shuffled off at the end . I would so love to have a society where we treated older people as the wise elders that they are. I guess as old ladies you and i will still be fighting to change the world - so hey there is some hope out there!
