  Can you speak to your parents? Parents are usually pretty good and wanting the best for their children - why do you feel that is not the case for you?

  Excatly because they want the best for me is the problem, because i just can't be who they want me to be anymore, i'm lost and i need time to find myself, but no time, have to go on with this life that just seems so meaningless

  See... I disagree with something you said. You said "I'm lost and I need time to find myself" I understand that feeling. However, as lost as you may feel... you're still inside of you. You don't have to FIND yourself... you just have to get to KNOW yourself. Love yourself. Once you love yourself(and I still don't love myself fully yet) you'll be at a better position to stand up to your parents, and let them realize that you're your own person. And if you don't love yourself before attempting this, you'll end up feeling more lost than ever.

  roze - they want me to be perfect and act just as they think i should act. I'm an induvidual and i know better than to guide myself by their expectations but they are my parents and i don't want to let them down even more than i already have.

  twentysix - My father told me what he thinks of me too and it crushed me. I just try to remember that he is human too and that what he said was probably one of his worst mistakes yet !

  ultimately the only way you can let anyone down is by not being yourself - otherwise you are just putting on a face - and who wants to wear a mask in familial situations? they have a choice too - to love you as you are - as you have that choice with them

  I have been reading your bricks tonight and just had to comment on this one. I'm an old soul, sweetie and I wrangled with what my parents thought long past they were dead and gone. What I recently learned is the more important thing is what you think about yourself. Once you do that, no one elses thoughts about you matter. It's a work in progress - always.

  I fight with my dad every day. He has his thoughts about me, and I couldn't care less, luckily mom my regards me highly, so I don't have to worry about both parents. I think you truly fail as a parent if your kid doesn't feel they're accepted by you.

  i've been thinking about this a lot these days. what parents make their kids feel like based on their own beliefs. it's hard. especially if you love them, but know you can't tell them everything. you're a not alone, i hope you know that.
