Your brick story

Looking at things from a different viewpoint - like watching the sky's light from the lower side of the beautiful leaves of my hibiscus.

Nothing quite as interesting as looking at our lives through different prisms is there>

Yes, and I'm particularly happy of how good the picture is. - My hibiscus is so beautiful to look at. Since March, it has grown to become at least three times if not four times what it was. Even my neighboors on the other side of the street asked me what have I done to make it become so big and beautiful.

    And your answer is?

I must admit - I have seen them thrive in tropical climates - East Malaysia etc - but I had not thought of Europe as a natural place for hibiscus to grow?

    Have you a hot house?

Well, in March, after a year since I bought it, I transfered it from its original pot into a larger one, but not too much bigger. I keep watering it regularly each days though not too much at time, and sometimes add some fertilizer to the water. I guess one of the main reason of its growth was its location - on the heater when it's off or not too hot like these days, by the window (either when open or closed) and thus lots of light. Plus, as trees tend to grow even more with polution, I wonder if it hasn't happened too in my case. There were some days when the air was really stinking with ozone, just like in any US cities. I live under the roof of my buidling, so during summer it can get pretty hot in here. And if you add to that that the sun sets during about three months (June-August) almost in front of my window, you get the picture. The tallest of its branch has grown by almost 4in during the last four weeks, even if the weather has been pretty bad and rather cold. And there are something like twenty flowers in preparation, though some may die before opening.

Wow - you what a lucky hibiscus - sounds like it is pretty healthy - at least you have something to bring a garden feeling inside!

Yeah, I love to have it at home. It sort of reminds me the islands with its particular green of tropical plants and its large yellow flowers. I have to find it a good place with enough light for the winter.
