Your brick story

Yesterday for a little while i truly feared for the safety of my child - and i realised that there are some things in life i cannot protect her against - and whilst i can now try to mend damage as soon as she is back in my arms today - she will bear some scars that are outside of my power to heal. Why does this leave me feeling like a bad mother?

You are not a bad mother - bad mothers don't fear for their children's safety and they don't worry about the things in life that hurt but still can't protect them from. You are not a bad mother.

I agree with unionmaid ... a bad mother wouldn't worry, wouldn't want to fix things. A bad mother would let them go and not care. We can't protect our children from everything, you're right about that ... but the wanting to or not wanting to is part of what makes us who we are. Have faith in that you really are a good mother ... it's something I feel and something I can just "tell" in you ... Many hugs ...
