Your brick story

My boyfriend was with his ex for 10 years, most of that as a long distance relationship. He left her to be with me, but still wants to be friends. She is clingy, emotionally unstable and very vulnerable, and she doesn't know about me. I always say "its fine, honestly, I want you to be friends", when actually I wish she didn't exist because it makes me feel sick to my stomach when he talks about her.

Hi waterbiscuit - welcome to Big White Wall. I think it is quite a normal response to want what you have with someone to be untainted by 'the past' - there was a talkabout on this subject a couple of months ago - maybe you can find it. Perhaps he feels guilty about leaving her - particularly if she is vulnerable. It seems strange that she does not know about you???
