I forgot this year - UM's list of websites just reminded me. I don't remember the day it is anywyay, just that it has been celebrated in May, late May I think. I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong.

So this is a picture I took a couple years ago, at Southbank, Brisbane, while celebrations were in progress. I'd gone there for a concert at Griffith Uni Conservatorium and knowing I would be there at this hour round sunset I took my camera with me. I love these lanterns - might just be my favorite thing about the event as it is here, seemed rather a commercial enterprise. The other thing was ringing the big bell for peace. and the floral displays where the seriously Buddhist rituals were held. My bell pictures didn't work so well (another day, lighting problems, me moving problems, some one walking in front of me problems) and I didn't want to be so rude and take pictures of the floral displays, because it seemed a private space, even within this public thoroughfare.
