Your brick story

I really tried and it didn't work. I did my best but it wasn't good enough.

I told people about my dream and how I was planning to do it and now I've got to admit to giving up. (shouldn't be embarrassed but I am)

I am grieving for a dream.

Can you say more about the dream and why you feel you are having to give up? You can reply anonymously. Hugs roze

Dreams are so hard to part with - but sometimes in their dying they lead to a new reality, and another way forward - don't be embarrassed - you are very brave to know that you are changing your plans, and to know that it didn't work.

    Self-knowledge is power.

Sending love for your grief -

Hi, It sounds like you started to make your dream a reality, which is a lot further than most people get. It takes courage o give up on something, when you really want it - it's heartbreaking, but at least you have had the courage to start. Thinking of you.

Thanks for your kind words, I've been wallowing in some self pity for the past few days, but I guess now is the time to stand up again.

the dream was that my son wanted to go to a different school, so he got a 50% scholarship to a good school. So for the past 7 months I have been saving and saving, I've given up spending money on anything but the bare essentials. But it's not good enough. I can't afford the other 50% of the fees. I cannot help but feel that I have let him down terribly by failing to give him access to a decent eduction.

I think that Jomo's words about self knowledge really hit home ... I have to admit that as a single parent I can't provide everything.

So I have that dull ache of grief in the pit of my stomach. Some clouds have no silver lining.

I can so understand how hard that is. I am a single parent and it is really tough sometimes - you so want the best for your child. I am so sorry that you saved so hard but were not quite able to make it. Have you been able to talk to him about it? I really feel for you. love roze

    Hi Anon,

That sounds like a hard thing to go through, but at least you have had the bottle to attempt the dream, so many people (mself inluded) have dreams, but don't even attempt to make them a reality. Be proud of yourself for trying. blueangel xx
