Your brick story

Well for now at least - my new job is a bit of a blessing - I don't walk under rainbows and blue birds aren't dancing around me as I sing and skip my way to work - but I just feel happier in myself.

I just enjoy managing people and I have a great bunch of people to manage - bright and with loads of talent and so much potential. And my peers are great to work with - they don't want to be my friends and they don't really care if they like me or I like them - we just get on with the work and they know me well enough that I don't unsettle the group too much by being the new one.

I really didn't know how much I wasn't enjoying my other job - it is so much easier to be in a place which I find I fit in. But strangely they are not my natural group - we just make it work.

UM, im so pleased for you .
Sounds as though youve landed on your feet with this new job .. perhaps those rainbows and blue birds are not as far away as you think !!

Thanks Cheery - just one fairly little change - doesn't take the whole world
But it makes me think about quite a lot that is happening and how I feel and maybe even how I attribute the feelings to situations and I might be in a mode where I am allocating feelings to situations that are not really related. Maybe I had better work out a more coherent way of explaining this. Just well I got some of this terribly wrong with the benefit of hindsight.

I have little doubt that a change of scene for me and finding the right crowd would also do me a world of good but I have explained that one many times.
Just one thing. Take some credit for how things are. If there is one single thing that can make work great it is a good manager.
I think in all the years I have only really known one manager who was really worthy of the title. It is almost universally agreed in my organisation that she is the best. Just one simple reason. She puts the people first and formost, knowing that if she does that well, the rest just falls in to place. She does it brilliantly.
