Your brick story

When I was younger, probably until I became a teenager, I used to do three nightmares, each happening for three different reasons.

In one, I was in an indescribable place. Nothing was familiar at all, and I could barely discern the ground from the rest. I couldn't stand up without falling back on my fours and sliding downwards. Each time I woke up, I felt the feeling of motion on the tip of my fingers. Luckily for me, that nightmare only happened when I had fever.

In another nightmare, I'm standing at my room's door. From there, I can see through our flat as it was in reality. My mother is standing in front of the kitchen's door looking at the main entrance door opposite to her. She's holding my sister in her arms, and my brother is next to them. From where they are, they can't see that a complete stranger, with a rather mad look is running towards them. So I start to run too to tell them... and the nightmare stops here.

In the third nightmare, I'm trying to hide from a witch. I try to enter in a farmhouse, but the door is locked. So I try to make myself as flat as possible and to hide in the frame of the door. The witch arrives in the farmhouse's courtyard and heads towards the well. When she see that I'm not in there, she looks around and see me. She's approaching and I can't move. I don't know what to do. Before she can reach me the nightmare ends.

I can still feel in me how stressed I was by these last two nightmares. It's only much later, without having shared it with anyone, that I finally understood who were these two individuals of these haunting nightmares.

Kid fears are strong fears. I still have a nightmare that I am fairly certain started before I was school age. Over the years I have gained some greater control in the dream and am more able to defend my self but it doesn't stop the dream - maybe if I shared it, it might fade away UM xxxx

Do you know what's the meaning of your dream ? If I stay in a Jungian approach to dreams, every details have their meanings, including the feelings you are feeling when you awaken. I don't if I've already told you that, but for instance, about last Spring, I did a very strong nightmare that forced to awaken at 5am, thing that I don't do usually. According to what I've learned, dreams or nightmares keep coming back until you understand what's the meaning. In some case, the dream or nigntmare can, as for me, wake someone up. In my nightmare, I was arrested by a police officer for something I was not linked to, I was just a victim of fate. I searched in my book for the meaning of the police officer, and according to its author: "Ego's dreams show most of the time authority characters." Like police officer. The previous day, I was working on me and trying to understand and enlighten some rather painful aspects of my life. According to what I've read elsewhere, the ego prefers to leave things "as they are" and to make no efforts to change them. A true sluggard, which is capable of freightening you if you put him at danger. What do you think of all this ?

Oh goodness - I don't know about dream interpretation - I dream a few dreams every night - and sometimes the interpretations confuse me more than the dream itself.

I think I do know the meaning of my dream - it has been with me for more than 40 years

It is used to be quite a scary dream because it relates to an incident in my life that I never spoke of - but once I was more honest about it to myself I was able to have more control over the dream.

I have read what you have written about ego - sometimes it is painted as the big obstacle - and some of the buddhist related psychology relates to it in that way too.

I prefer to hang with the feelings of the dreams rather than the details - I think that is truer. UMxx
