  He didn't ask me out, he didn't get me a birthday present or remember it was my birthday until I reminded him, so he didn't get me a present, and he wasn't upset that I didn't get him a present, he didn't kiss me...

  I almost asked him out. But I didn't. My friend kept telling me to, but it was too spontaneous, and those types of situations scare me.

  Hey, do you think that he might be more comfortable if you just went out with a couple of other people so you could just get used to being around each other? Maybe going on a "date" is a big step for both of you? I think you love your friend a lot but maybe you need to listen to your heart for the best advice. I am sure that she will have your best interests at heart but maybe it just adds a bit too much pressure.

  It sounds like this is going to be a slow train and that's okay - you both need to be comfortable with how this develops. Try to come up with small activities that you can do that don't place too much pressure on you.
