  I have been to the doctor and have been on some tablets. I find it really difficult to be happy - i feel like there is this heavy dark cloak over me and I feel that I am worthless, a terrible dad and often feel my family would be better off if I left.

  I love my wife and don't want to burden her with things - she has enough on her plate putting up with me.

  As for my girls - I would die for them but I don't want to make them miserable.

  Thank you for sharing that with us. You know there is a vast amount of experience about coping with health issues and how to share them with your family over on Talkabout. How about you start a new one? Talk about how you feel and why you feel unable to tell your wife? I am sure that you are a wonderful husband and father - and that most importantly you do your best.

  I reckon love is a great glue in relationships - maybe your wife will be worrying and imagining worse things than she needs to. You might have had that experience yourself when you have imagined that a situation is far worse than it is when someone finally talks about it. I know I have. Maybe not talking could be a greater burden for you wife to bear?
