  noticed you posted today but think you are new - welcome.

  I wonder if anyone who worried about treating kids differently could really be a crap Dad. sounds like you love them both and are really mindful of the role you have. It sounds to me like you might actually be pretty good as a Dad. Still - have you ever thought about just having a low key conversation with each of them and putting your mind to rest? good luck UM

  I try my best but some days feel completely hopeless. My oldest is 12 whilst the youngest is 5 and it is difficult to treat them both the same due to their ages - I just don't want my oldest to hate me -she knows I am not her biological Dad

  Yes the age gap is a challenge - I have two too. One is nearly 12 and the other nearly 8 and that is a bit of a test. I reckon that as your 12 year old knows the biology of it all she will just accept you as dad. Remember as a kid of just feeling loved? She's getting that from you now and the biology may not make a big difference in the relationship she has with you. Anyway these days kids seem so very well equipped to let us know when they don't feel okay. Might be you could trust her a bit too.
