If you had a potential lethal disease would you have a genetic profile and if you do, what would you do with it?

It is a question that rumbles in my head- my mother and fathers sister have had breastcancer. It is know that it could be carried genetic. Should I have a test or would it just make me worry even more?

I think that it would depend on the disease.

I worry often about the nature of my head and whether it might be hereditary - that is about protecting my children and so that is a bit different.

But when it comes to breast cancer - as a specific disease - would I?

Yes I would have the profile - I don't know what I would do with it - I would need the information first.  I have two acquaintances who have lost the grandmother, aunts and mum  - all of them and one took a radical step of having a double masectomy to ensure that she didn't end up with breast cancer and an early death.

I am sending you all of my best warmest wishes Alba, it is not about the testing it is about the question that lies in your head.  lots of love UM xx

Hi Alba . I  believe in the idiom -  forewarned forearmed -

From a personal perspective i would not hesitate in arming myself with information

from genetic testing. The information however in my view should remain in private   domain   Cheers. Cate xx
