My daughter is a wise little bunny for five. One day earlier this year - when i was feeling rather low - she looked into the mirrored wall of my bedroom and said 'It's hard to look at yourself in the mirror isn't it mummy?". Her perception of how i was feeling simply took my breath away. So i cannot treat her as a 'fool' - so now when she asks me 'Why don't you and Daddy live together any more?' - what is the best answer to give to one who is only five????

    honestly.

something along the lines of "mommy and daddy can't live together anymore because they don't get along. but that doesn't mean we don't love you or love you any less. you're still our (insert pet name here)."

also, add that it isn't her fault and over emphasize that you and daddy still love her no matter the living situation. it's most important.
