Having done a fair bit of running around for others of late  I decided it was time to look  at my needs . So baked an apple cake - one daughter said " why mum? -full of sugar butter and flour".  Free from guilt  I sat  down with coffee and mags. and ate a large slice. This morning  I decided to see the Picasso exhibtion as it finishes in 3 days - so husband will drop me off andI'll walk around at my pace soaking it up .

Feels a bit strange- not used to doing things by myself unless it's going to the dentist.. I'm wondering what you have done or planning to do  just for your self in the next few hours?  Cate xx

I am going to paint without doing the household scores first and then I will go and meet a friend at a cafe also without doing the household scores.

My daughter and son-in-law took me out to lunch and I had a cuddle of my littlest grandchild - I had my hair cut REALLY SHORT!!! and I bought a flashing light for my walker - my kids will groan, but the older grandkids will just love it - just like they love the honka-hooter horn...

Sounds like you've  had a very special day Jo.  Cuddling any grandchild of mine  would be just about make my heart burst with happiness. I  wonder if I'll get the chance if   my children put off having them till they are in their 30's like I did ?

A walker with flashing lights ? you really must look an awesome sight :)

Sob!  Alas!  My lovely little flashing light, which is Astroboy, by the by - is magnetic - so I thought that it would stick to my walker - but it will not.

So - I assume my walker is aluminium?  Or what?  Why is my metal walker not magnetic - and magnets don't stick to it?

I now have to re-think Astroboy - hmmm.  The best laid plans of meece and me....

Oh dear , Jo . BooHoo

Now have you something that attracts magnets that you could wear ? I think wearing Astroboy sounds cool . I'm off to do something for myself now .. read paper, cut a slice of cake (this time carrot walnut ) and settle for a while and then do laundry ( maybe) Cate x

A parade of friends with new babies gave me the opportunity to be a baby nurser and bather which just does my heart good.  A coffee out with a friend today - in sunshine no less and finding a wonderful fruit and veg shop with incredibly fresh fennel bulbs for a spring salad. :)
