    Hey All,

Just wondering what everyone's understanding of the body is.

For example, I've understood that Taoists believe it is your vessel and you should take great care of it on this journey.

And then also I've been aware of how much your physical health and state effect your mental (and emotional) state.

But also I've heard that the body is an ever-changing, dying thing.

So I am just wondering, when it comes to your body, what are your thoughts? Do you even pay attention to it? Should we feel guilt if we don't take care of it?

    peace~

Gosh Chak  - ask an easy one eh - Monday and hard thinking work.

Lots of religions and "way" based faiths seem to have a common theme of the body as a vessel or a temple or to be honored by not over indulging in food or drink that might harm the body.  I have read that for the Judeo/Christian/Moslem religions that this is largely based on the understanding of health and food preparation of the time.

How do I regard my body?  I do believe that it is largely a vehicle for carrying around my spirit - and clearly I don't regard my body as a particularly sacred vessel or I would have paid more attention to the way that I exercise and look after it.  Do I feel guilty - no.  Would I like to be in better shape - oh yes but only in the way that I would also like to be able to play the piano and be able to bowl a 10 pin bowling ball without it having to organise a catcher behind me.  But in spite of the fact I would like to do this stuff I don't do anything about it.

In fact the only reason I do take reasonable care of my body - amount of alcohol I consume and what I eat has more to do about managing my moods knowing that the worse I feel physically the worse I feel emotionally.  There is nothing worse than depression and a hangover in the morning to my way of being.

Hm - still thinking - I'm glad this is an anonymous site.

I like this TA  UM xxx

my bady certainly has taken a battering over the years and im not the best at taking care of myself but i do know its taken its toll on my mental health.

for me i believe the bady is just a way of living in this world, and when we die our spirit moves on, maybe to find another body, maybe not.

so i guess i should take more care of my body as i want my spirit to be a happy one and im not ready to leave this world yet!

Chak - the body is the vehicle as UM said for carrying or even sheltering/protecting the spirit - what i want to know is where is the spirit in the body - in the head or in the heart?
